San Franciscans walking past Pier 70 will no longer be left wondering what that odd odor is. The vessel formerly known as the “Carnival Splendor,” the cruise ship that infamously broke down off the coast of Mexico last November took the long walk of shame out of the SF bay last week.
The wounded ship had been receiving repairs (and presumably, getting hosed down thoroughly) since being towed from San Diego in January.
People most likely remember the heart-wrenching tales of vacationers being forced to wait in line nearly two hours, just to receive their rations of pop-tarts, spam and bottled water. I, however, say free pop-tarts…where do I sign up?
